Back office Conversion and Remote Deposit
Remote Deposit and Back Office Conversion are industry terms that
refer to the depositing of paper checks from a Merchant location,
instead of at the teller window at the Merchants bank. The overall
premise is that checks which the company has received throughout the
day are deposited electronically using an imager and a software
program.
On the surface it's all so simple, but behind the scenes a lot is
taking place. Invisibly, business checks and money orders are being
transferred through the systems image exchange program, while
personal checks and recurring ACH payments are being routed through
the ACH Network. Pretty impressive stuff when you stop to think
about it.
But most important to the user is
they weren't tied to current-day branch hours and they didn't have
to make a trip to the bank to get things in motion.
It all happened from their PC and a copy of
eSoftPayment "Remote Deposit" software.
Electronically submitting checks offers a whole new dimension of
automation by eliminating the normal paper deposit routine as well
as transportation charges associated with traditional deposits. It
may also be possible to retain fewer multiple-bank relationships,
as deposits can be consolidated into a single account, regardless of
geographic location. |
